Morjim Beach
Morjim is a picturesque portion of Goa's 103-square metre long shoreline in the North. The swish and rustle of the waters of the Arabian sea and the Chapora river bestow on it a bountiful catch of choice fish and coconuts as well as beautiful vistas. Hedged by hillocks, which chase the habitated plains and gently dissolve on the pristine beach, Morjim offers gorgeous viewpoints from sea-level upwards Morjim interests different people for different reasons. For sure, it's a rural place shrouded in quaint customs and traditions like most Goan villages. It boasts about one of the loveliest beaches. Moreover, it's the home of Goa's traditional folk-dance ghoddemodni and maddachem godd (coconut jaggery).
Seeing the Olive Ridley turtles and their hatchlings is an unforgettable experience. This happens only occasionally. However, touching the eggs or hatchlings is a punishable offense. A signboard in this regard has been put up on the beach.
There are about three cafes and then a huge expanse of untamed coast - if you're lucky you can walk for half an hour without seeing another soul. You'll need scooters or a car to get to the beach as it's quite out of the way.

Witnessing the Olive Ridley turtles and their hatchlings at the beach is a truly amazing and unforgettable experience. The southern end that has soft white sands of the beach known as Temb acts as a nesting ground for the Olive Ridley turtles that come here to lay their eggs.
Unfortunatly this event does not occur that frequently and the timing is very difficult to predict.Be warned though, the beach is protected which menas touching the eggs or hatchlings is a criminal offense.
Morjim beach is also home to a lot of net pullers who make their living from the fish which after they have caught it, leave it to dry and sell it as fertilizer.

Panaji is 30km away and the hourly bus services from either Mapusa or Panaji can be availed of to reach here. The Pernem Railway Station is 20km away, and Dabolim is at a distance of 55km. Prepaid taxis can be taken from the airport and the station. Buses are few, and none needs to catch them based on their timings.
